Kenneth Burns, of Terrell, passed away March 3, 2015 in Dallas, TX. He was born Oct. 1, 1947 in Dallas to William H. and Nannie (Pannell) Burns. He was preceded in death by his father. Ken worked as a warehouse manager for Sears in Dallas, Garland and Houston and retired after over 30 years of loyal service. He and his wife, Sandra, moved to Terrell 23 years ago and enjoyed the quiet country and each other. He loved to spend time ‘tinkering’ in his shop where he would work on cars or hand crafting items out of wood to give to family and friends. He had a talent for being good at whatever he tried and consequently successful at everything he accomplished. After Ken was blessed with granddaughters, he was often found in his shop with them “helping” him tinker after which they all would ride for hours on the golf carts and go on many four-wheeler adventures. He also loved to ride his motorcycle and visiting local flea markets and antique stores for that one-of-a-kind object. Times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews were times that Ken enjoyed the most and together, they all made memories that will never fade. His generous and lovable nature made an instant friend of all who met him and his smile and great sense of humor will be greatly missed. Ken leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Sandra Burns of Terrell; daughters: Wendi Garee of Terrell and Angela Holubar and husband, Kenneth, of Forney; grandchildren: Haylee and Harlee Holubar; mother, Nannie Burns of Wolfe City; brothers: Don Burns and wife, Michelle, of Wolfe City, Billy Burns and wife, Carolyn, of Terrell as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, several cousins, extended family members and a host of friends who will continue Ken’s legacy of kindness and generosity. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with interment to follow at Wilson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Thursday, March 5, at the funeral home. For those wishing to honor Ken, memorials may be made in the fight against lung cancer at www.lung.org.
