Barbara Kay Higgins

Barbara Kay Higgins, 73, of Texarkana, TX passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on March 4, 1942 in Chicago, IL. Mrs. Higgins was retired from Liberty-Eylau Independent School District, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine Orth, her husband, F. Dalton Higgins, and her father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Tula Higgins.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Mark Turman of Texarkana, TX, Michele and Russ Green of Wake Village, TX, Shawna Smith and Jolene Braley both of Texarkana, TX; sister, Judi Parilla of Long Beach, CA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jimmy and Sally Higgins of Texarkana, TX; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a number of other close friends and relatives.

Rosary will be recited at 6pm Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at East Funeral Home-Downtown with visitation to follow at 6:30pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2pm Wednesday, September 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Adams officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.

The family will be at the home of Mrs. Higgins at 103 Fairway Drive, Texarkana, TX.
