Today, we celebrate the remarkable life of a man whose faith, service, and love touched countless hearts. A devoted servant of God, country, community, and family, he lived each day with purpose and humility.
A proud Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country with honor and courage—carrying that same spirit of service into every chapter of his life.
After returning home, his calling to serve continued in the halls of education. As a school teacher and principal in the Texarkana Arkansas School District (TASD), he shaped young minds with wisdom, compassion, and steadfast belief in the power of learning. His influence reached generations of students, colleagues, and families who will forever remember his kind leadership and guiding hand.
After retirement he worked many years at East Funeral Home assisting families during their time of need. It feels especially fitting and such an honor that East Funeral Home is now coordinating his final arrangements, bringing the same care and dignity to him and our family that he once so freely gave to others.
His devotion to God shined brightly through his lifelong service at the Highland Church of Christ, where he served faithfully as song leader, deacon, elder, and perhaps his most cherished role—“Mr. Bible.” His joy for worship and his heart for teaching God’s word were unmatched.
He was a loving brother to his large family of ten siblings, and he is survived by his dear sisters Damona Bryant and Betty Vanderburgh. Above all, he was a faithful husband to Betty Norton, a devoted father to Billy Norton Jr., and a proud grandfather to Morgan and Liam—each of whom carry his legacy of faith, love, and integrity forward.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we give thanks to God for the precious gift of his life. His love for God, his family, and his community will continue to inspire and guide all who knew him.
May his steadfast spirit rest in eternal peace and his memory remain a light for us all.
