

Frank was born on January 23, 1928 in Laredo, Texas to Trinidad and Guadalupe Garza. He graduated from East Texas State University with a Masters in Music. He married Teresa Lynn Hopkins in 1965. Frank’s first job as a band director was in McCrory, Arkansas. He then moved to Texas where he taught in New Boston, Crane, Cooper, Liberty-Eylau, Paris High School, Prairiland High School, and Chisum High School. He taught for a total of 51 years.
Frank was an accomplished musician and band director, receiving several awards through the years. His most recent and proudest moment was when he was inducted into the Four States Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame. He loved music and was passionate about leaving the legacy of music for another generation. Frank was an active and dedicated member of the local Band Director’s Seminar.
Frank is survived by his daughter Teresa Lisette Garza of Texarkana, Texas, nephew, Ricardo Guimbarda of Austin, Texas, Mother-in-law Hortense Hopkins, Brother-in-law Eddie Hopkins and wife Lynne and Brother-in-law Jack Hopkins and wife Shelly. He also has many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Teresa Lynn Garza, his mother Guadalupe Garza, father Trinidad Garza and sisters Carmen C Garza and Maria G. Manin
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your local Band Booster Organization to continue the gift of music. The family would like to thank Mays Home Health for helping with his care and the staff at St. Michael's Hospital for their dedication in care.
Memorial mass will be 11am Saturday, November 14, 2015 at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Worm officiating.
Cremation is under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.
Family will receive friends from 9am until 10:45am, Saturday November 14, 2015 in the parish hall at St Edwards Catholic Church, 410 Beach St, Texarkana, AR
