Gary Joe Walz, age 74, of Texarkana, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Gary was born June 10, 1948 in Texarkana, TX. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he received a purple heart while in Vietnam. He is a member of Faith Baptist Church and retired from Cooper Tire after 37 years of service. Gary Joe was a kind, selfless and generous man.
He is preceded in death by a son Jimmy Kent and a sister Mary Walz.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years Dorothy Walz of Texarkana, AR; two sons and daughters-in-law Jason and Robin Walz and Eric and Katie Walz; one daughter and son-in-law Sonya and Dennis Richardson; one sister Jan Walz; one brother and sister-in-law Frank and Linda Walz; Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren and their spouses; Rand Walz, Brandon and Amy Uselton, Toby Hightower, Jack Walz, Luc Walz, Ella Walz, Alana and Brandon McMurry, Brenna and Scott Higgins, Wesley Kent and Nick and Jennifer Kent; 8 great-grandchildren Will, Chloe, Rhett, Whittney, Jackson, Lawson, Wynlee and Jovee. Plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 23, 2022 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery officiated by Rev. Gary Glover. Burial will be under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.
Family will receive friends at the cemetery from 1 to 2 P.M. prior to the service.
