

Larry D. Riebesell, born on May 17, 1942, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 16, 2024. Larry served honorably for 29 years with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department, embodying dedication, integrity, and a commitment to his community. After his retirement, he found joy in driving a school bus for the Raytown School District, continuing his service to the community by ensuring the safety and well-being of the children he transported.
Larry was married to his beloved wife, Debbie, for 40 cherished years. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Jennie Luedke; his uncle, Arland Luedke; his parents, Walter and Melba Riebesell; his dear daughter, Tammie Riebesell; and his beloved wife, Debbie Riebesell.
He is survived by his loving family, including his son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Becca Riebesell; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Julie Riebesell; Stepdaughter Cindy Killgore and his treasured grandchildren, Rylie, Reese, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Trace. Larry’s legacy of love continues through his great-grandchildren, Hayden, Maverick, and Kennedy. He also leaves behind his sisters, Linda Mertz, Kathy McKenzie, and Sheryl Gonnsen; his brother, Wally Riebesell.
Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. Known for his calm demeanor, he was well-liked and deeply respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence brought warmth and stability to those around him. Larry’s gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and steadfast love will be profoundly missed as he departs this earth and enters the kingdom of his Heavenly Father.
A joint celebration of life with his beloved wife, Debbie, will be held at St. Matthew's Church, 700 NE Chapman Rd., Lees Summit, Missouri, on September 14 at 2:00 PM.
May Larry and Debbie's memories be a blessing to all who knew and loved them, and may they rest in eternal peace together.
