

A woman of many passions, Marylu found joy in travel, exploring new places, and embracing the beauty of the world. Her culinary talents brought warmth to countless gatherings, where her dishes were savored by family and friends. An accomplished seamstress, Marylu poured her heart into creating beautiful quilts and baby clothes, each stitch a testament to her love for her grandchildren.
Marylu was a member of the New Covenant Sunday School class, United Methodist Women, and the former Green Group Tuesday Bible Study, where her faith and fellowship touched many lives. Her commitment to service extended to her role as a sustaining member of the Junior League of Texarkana. Alongside her husband, David W. Malaby, Sr. Marylu was a previous owner of East Funeral Home, where they served the Texarkana community with compassion and care.
Marylu was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David W. Malaby, Sr. and her brother, John B. Nelson. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Crista and Brad Thomas; her sons and daughter-in-law, David and Tammy Malaby, and Mitchel Malaby; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Hillcrest Cemetery with Chaplain Kevin Holt officiating. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Arkansas or Heritage Hospice.
