Susie Elizabeth Shade

As a young girl, Susie enjoyed tap dancing and music with her brothers and sisters.

Susie was married to Jack Gentle and had two children, John and Katy. She was a devoted wife and mother. She kept a meticulous house and cooked wonderful well balanced meals. She took John to all of his motorcycle races and Katy to all her swimming meets. She was a proud Mama.

Later in life she married Ray Shade. They enjoyed having parties and playing bridge with neighbors and friends.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Gentle and Dale Rabon of Greenville, SC; son John Gentle of Charleston, SC; sister, Mary "Sissy" Brown of Friendswood, TX; brother, Otto "Bubba" Atchley of Whitney, TX; granddaughter, Ashlyn Petty; and her dear friend Stacia Glenn.

Preceded her in death by Baylor "Sonny" Atchley, Harold "Beck" Atchley, and Billie Virginia Reeves.

Thank you to all of the caregivers at the Ivy of McKinney who loved and cherished Susie's spitfire personality.

A special thank you to Hannah, Bubba's wife, who passed in September 2024, for all the support and love that she gave to Katy, when she was having a difficult time with Susie's dementia.

No services are scheduled. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.
