Annie Maude James entered heaven on Friday, March 22, 2024 in The Woodlands, Texas at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on January 7, 1941 to the late Robert Lee Moreland Sr. and Florene Evans.
Annie graduated from Maggie Walker High School and received a Social Services degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She spent her working career as a social services administrator for the city of Richmond, Virginia, which was her calling as she so enjoyed helping others. She was a member of the Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. She enjoyed collecting teapots and listening to jazz music, but her passion was singing gospel music. She was a regular participant in The Woodlands Area Mass Choir which performed at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. commemorative celebration.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lee James, her sister, Floretta Charity and her brother, Robert Lee Moreland Jr. She is survived by her daughters: Benita Thornton, Felecia James, and Yolanda Menefield; her grandchildren Mikeisha Blackwell, Shanna Dicker, Sean Thornton, Maiya Menefield and Dominique Menefield; her six great grandchildren; her one great-great grandchild; and her sister, Bernice Charity.

A memorial service for Annie will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Crossroads Baptist Church, 5000 College Park Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77384.
