

Benjamin was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on November 4, 1933. After graduating from technical school, he served in the U.S. Air Force in France and Germany. He studied at the University of Connecticut where he received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and then a MBA.
He married Shirley Lillian Hakimian on June 21, 1959, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They were married for 52 years.
As an engineer, Benjamin worked for Western Union, Hamilton Standard, Combustion Engineering, Southwest Research, Boeing, Fairchild, and PSEG.
Benjamin was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge of Simsbury, Connecticut, and also a member of the Armenian communities in Hartford, Connecticut; San Antonio, Texas; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Houston, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at The Village at Woodlands Waterway in The Woodlands, Texas, and was an avid golfer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley.
Benjamin is survived by his son Gregory and daughter-in-law Helen; daughter Gail Kodokian and son-in-law, George; grandchildren, Catherine, David, Alex, Michael, and Angela; sister Rose Avakian and her husband, Herbert; brother Henry Tashjian and his wife, Helen, brother James Tashjian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation and funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 17, at 10:00 AM, at Forest Park of The Woodlands. There will be another funeral service in Hartford, Connecticut followed by interment.
