

Bruce grew up in southern California and graduated from Hueneme High School in 1969. He joined the Army that same year. He served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. While he was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA, he met his wife, Martha in 1972. They were married on January 22, 1973.
His next duty station was Germany in 1974, where their daughter was born. They returned to the states in 1977 and was assigned to Ft. Ord, CA. He got out of the Army in 1980, serving 11 years.
His next career was on an ambulance as an EMT in Salinas, CA., as well as a mechanic on the ambulances. This was about 15 years.
Other career jobs were tow truck driver, a service tech for garage doors.
He and his wife moved to Los Osos, CA in 1999.
He volunteered with the Monterey Bay Veterans, which helped disabled veterans go fishing on their boat.
He loved to help Pastor Bob with the men's breakfast once a month at First Baptist Church in Los Osos.
He was talented at woodworking, making furniture for his home, along with building a sound booth for his church.
He and his wife Martha moved to Texas in 2021, to be closer to his daughter and grandkids. There they became members of First Baptist Church of Tomball.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Martha of 53 years; his two children: Craig and wife Kathy, Jennifer and husband Joseph Jenkins; his brother Darryl and wife Rose Rothwell, sister Deborah and her husband Michael Thompson; grandchildren: Robert and wife Amber Rodriguez, Raquel and husband Jimmie Ramirez, Zephyrin, Jaida, and Brynnleigh; great grandchildren: Lexton, Evelynn, Reece, Cayde, and Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his father Bruce Sr, mother Marilyn Rothwell, stepfather Robert Rothwell, and sister Linda Rowlett.
The family is asking for donations to American Cancer Society or your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
A memorial service will be held March 26, 2026 at 11:00 am
