

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Clarence (Tom) Thomas Modlin III. Born on August 25, 1962, in Houston, Texas to Clarence Thomas Modlin Jr. and Elizabeth Ruckman Modlin. Tom graduated from Dickinson High School in 1980 and, immediately after, he attended Texas State Technical Institute where he graduated in 1981.
After graduation, Tom returned to Houston, Texas and took a job with Armco Steel where he was a heavy equipment mechanic which led to other jobs, including Penske Truck Leasing for 25 years. There he was a lead mechanic where he received the Penske Challenge Award in 1997, 1998, and 2000. Ultimately working for TCI Dedicated Logistics, Leasing & Rentals as a Technician Level 4.
As a young boy, Tom had an infatuation with muscle cars that continued throughout his life. He thoroughly enjoyed drag racing, often going to the racetrack, car shows and swap meets with his friends. As a young man, he was in Boy Scouts, played Little League Baseball, loved fishing and attending summer camps.
He is survived by his father; Clarence Thomas Modlin Jr., brothers; David Modlin (Tracy) of Spring, TX, Glenn Modlin (Rachel) of League City, TX. He is also survived by his nephew and nieces; Kyle Modlin (Chrissy) of San Antonio, TX, Katie Modlin of Austin, TX, and Kirsten Armstrong (John) of Dickinson, TX.
He is preceded in death by his mother; Elizabeth Ruckman Modlin.
Tom was widely known for his sense of humor and was always willing to help a friend in need. He was looking forward to retirement and restoring his old cars. Tom will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

A private graveside service will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
