Clyde Newton Alexander, 85, was born in Cameron, Texas on December 4, 1938, to Byron Murray Alexander, Sr. and Ethel (Weaver) Alexander. He was their second son. His older brother, Byron Murray Alexander, Jr. was 11 years older than him. Word has it that Clyde kept his mother on her toes. He loved going fishing with his parents. Their favorite spot was near Willis, Texas. Clyde loved to tell stories of his beloved dog, Bozo, and their chickens. This is hard to imagine, as he grew up in The Heights, off Crosstimbers in the Houston, Texas area. Clyde attended Garden Oaks Elementary, Hamilton Middle School and Reagan High School.
Clyde joined the U.S. Navy and was aboard the U.S.S. Magoffin. He would look back fondly on his time in the service and the lifelong friends he had met during his stint on the ship in Vietnam. He kept in touch with these close buddies through Naval Reunions and phone calls until his passing.
Clyde was working at American Motors when he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Kasprowicz. Clyde and Liz married on July 5, 1969, in Houston, Texas. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage together. His favorite story to tell people was that on July 4, they celebrated their independence and on July 5, he lost his independence, smiling and winking the whole time. He continued his automotive career with Volvo of America, BMW North, Sam Montgomery Volvo, and Demontrond Volvo. He was a service representative, service manager and service advisor spanning 38 years and the states of Louisiana, Alabama and Texas.
When Clyde had free time, he had many hobbies that he enjoyed. Sharing his love for camping and boating with many friends and family was at the top of his list. He also loved riding motorcycles and shooting pool. Clyde loved music and would often have his favorite music playing in the background and on road trips, with favorites like Alan Jackson, George Strait, Neil Diamond, Creedence Clearwater Revival and so many more. Clyde was also quite the historian in the family, always taking pictures in hopes of preserving all the wonderful times they had.
Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Liz” (Kasprowicz) Alexander; his daughter, Michelle (Alexander) Cheli/Stickle and grandchildren Tania Cheli, Tyler Cheli and Brantz Stickle, along with great grandchildren Tyanne, Skylar, Tyler and Madelyn; his daughter, Debra “Debbi” (Alexander) Kremer and her husband, Eddy Kremer, and grandchildren Alexander Kremer and fiancée, Ryan Palmieri, and Abigail Kremer; and numerous nieces, nephews, dear family and friends.
