She was born on July 31, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA. Cynthia graduated with a BS and MS in Education from the University of Rochester.
Cynthia married Robert Allen Gardner on December 27, 1960. She was a devoted wife through 64 years of marriage to Robert, while creating loving and developmental environments for their six children in seven locations around the U.S. and abroad. After the children were raised, Cynthia taught for a few years at The John Cooper School in The Woodlands.
Cynthia was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Parish in The Woodlands. As a parishioner, she was a volunteer with various parish groups. She enjoyed tennis and was passionate about knitting, especially for her children, grandchildren, and neonatal maternity wards.
Cynthia, the loving wife of Robert A. Gardner, is the beloved daughter of Elmer H. and Doris M. Stotz, and dear sister of Gretchen (late Barry) Gray, the late Lydia (Jim) Corlew, Diana (Bob) Olson, and the late Jonathan Stotz.
Cynthia is the devoted mother of Kenneth, Thomas (Maura), Timothy (Dailene), William (Patricia), Andrew, and Christine (Michael) O’Connor.
Cynthia is the grandmother of Emily, Jack, George (Hanna), Charles, Henry, Joseph, William, Samuel, James, Sarah, Jonathan (Brianna), Mary, Patrick (Andrea), Angela, Nora O’Connor, Paul O’Connor, Thomas O’Connor, and Sean O’Connor.
Cynthia is the great grandmother of Gabrielle, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Isabela.
Visitation is on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 9 am to 10 am at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in the Woodlands followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Interment will be at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery.
