The Appleby Family moved around quite a bit, living in Billings, Montana among other locations. They eventually settled in Ponca City, Oklahoma where David graduated from Ponca City High School in 1974. David moved to Houston at 18 years old and made a successful career in the oil & gas industry, working as a pipefitter, drafter and fabrication manager over the years. His work gave him many travel opportunities, taking him to places such as Mexico and Africa as well as many domestic work sites.
David had a great love of American muscle cars, and one of his most prized possessions was his 1969 Chevy Camaro, which he lovingly restored. He was also an avid NFL football fan, cheering on the Houston Oilers and later the Houston Texans as an original season ticket holder. David loved classic rock n’ roll, and some of his favorite bands were Van Halen and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
David met Lannie in July 1985, and they were married on February 7, 1987 in Las Vegas. They shared a wicked sense of humor and a love of the beach, going to East Beach in Galveston nearly every weekend in the early days of their relationship. David enjoyed water skiing and even contemplated going pro for a short while. David kept Lannie laughing for 38 years and was a wonderful husband, father and “Pappy.”
David is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Betty Appleby. He is survived by his wife, Lannie Appleby, his children, daughter Jessi Cowart (Bobby) and son David Appleby (Ariana) as well as his grandchildren Abby Henderson, Nathan Cowart-Garcia, Carter Appleby and Jaxon Appleby.
