David Charles Courtois passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 in Spring, Texas at 61. Adoring husband of Irina Fetisova; loving father of Rita; loving stepfather of Diana; beloved son of Raymond (D. 2015) and Vernice Courtois (nee Weilmuenster, D. 1973); loving brother of Michael (Connie), Karen (David), Diane (Jeffery); loving stepson of Mary Jane Courtois (nee Hartwell); and loving stepbrother of Gerald (D. 2015), Mark (Debbi), Thomas, Timothy, Rick, and James.
David was born January 14, 1955 in Belleville, Illinois; attended St. Thomas Aquinas H.S in Florissant, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis; was a member of the U.S. Navy; was a master electrician and electrical contractor in Houston, Texas. Often, while attired in kilts, he dominated numerous local golf courses, scoring the only hole-in-one in Courtois family history. An avid connoisseur of microbrews, he especially enjoyed a good round or two of Sierra Nevada pale ale, as well as concocting his own award-winning home brew when he wasn’t constructing handcrafted high-performance boomerangs. Dave’s epicurean prowess, especially as a breakfast chef, was unmatched as attested to by his daughters Rita and Diana, who enjoyed so many years of eggs and breakfast tacos during their formative years. He was also renowned for the generous gift of his time and expertise electrifying gratis the properties of his many friends.
In 2010 he met and married the love of his life, Irina Fetisova, and delighted in their comfortable life together. In the weeks prior to his passing, family and friends recall him remarking about his great fortune in finding a woman with such a rare combination of intelligence, charm, and beauty. He was hugely proud of her accomplishments, and supported her untiringly with his paternal and spousal efforts, keeping their home life smooth and stable during her demanding corporate schedule that so often required her to travel.
David will be sorely missed by his wife, brother, sisters, daughters, and extensive family back in the St. Louis area; and his large network friends in Houston.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions in David's name to the radio station that he loved and supported, 90.1 KPFT (www.kpft.org).
