

She was born on May 30, 1933, the 10th child of Ruby Dunaway Wright and Roy Wright, in Clayton, NM. Her father died during the Depression, when DeeAnn was a small child. The family moved to a farm in Fritch, Texas, where Dee Ann spent the remainder of her childhood.
Dee Ann graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon, TX, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics, as well as a Texas teaching certificate. She worked for Southwest Public Service in Amarillo after graduation. She married Joe R. Crowley of Amarillo in 1954 and they had 4 children. She is survived by 3 children: Melissa Crowley of Spring; Amy Driver (Derek), and Kurt Crowley (Roxie) of The Woodlands, and daughter in law Joann Mikkelsen, (wife of Chris Crowley, who is deceased) of South Dakota, and 8 grandchildren: Christian Crowley, Tate Driver, Teddi Driver, Natalie Driver, Davis Driver, Summer Driver, Avery Crowley and Mia Crowley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her son, Chris, and all of her siblings.
After the birth of her first child, Dee Ann had the opportunity to stay home and raise her family. She always stated this was the greatest privilege of her life. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Her husband Joe’s career led them to various cities including: Hurst, TX, New Orleans, LA, and finally to Spring, TX, where she lived until her death. At the age of 50, and after her children were grown, Dee Ann began a career as a teacher, teaching first grade at Lamar Elementary for nearly 10 years in the Conroe School District. Her love for children and her ability to teach was immediately evident. Within a few years, Dee Ann was named Teacher Of The Year for her school. Upon retirement, Dee Ann spent her time continuing to care for her family, loving on her grandchildren and was actively involved in her church, Second Baptist Church of Houston, TX. Her faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her life. Dee Ann had a remarkable way of showing love and encouragement to everyone she met.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sept 29, 2023 at 12:30 pm at Forest Park Funeral Home, The Woodlands, TX
