Donald Holbert Johnson Pope, 39 years of age, passed from this life on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at his home in Spring, Texas surrounded by many loved ones, numerous relatives, and close personal friends. Having fought a good fight for almost nineteen months, he can now be at rest.
Don was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 29, 1972 and was fortunate to be in a military family. He went to numerous educational schools abroad and was exposed to various nationalities and customs. After graduating high school in Guam, he joined the Airforce and served his country. He had learned to love and respect his country from the watchful and loving eyes of his Father. Don was a man of integrity, high values, and unafraid to take a stand on the side of fairness regardless of whether it was the popular view or not.
These traits helped Don in his livelihood with Discount Tires. He was the same person whether he was changing a tire, discussing a conflict with a disgruntled customer, or training a new employee. Don was Don. You could depend on him.
Don loved his life. He loved his family, fishing, sports, Nascar, Discount Tire, Felicity, Kristle, and the guys at Discount Tire….Not necessarily in that order. He particularly loved Discount Tire. He believed in the “Brotherhood” and “Living the Dream.”
Kristle and Felicity would like to say thank you to Discount Tire, the Halle’s, and the Maxim Home Health Nursing Staff. It was a blessing to have you stop by and say hello. Thank you for the compassion shown to Don and our family during Don’s illness. You have exceeded our expectations in your kindness and generosity.
