Paul Anthony San Marco, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Throughout his battle with progressive pulmonary fibrosis, he never lost his determination to “stay in the game”. Born on February 20, 1947, to Mary Talerico San Marco and Frank L. San Marco, Paul was a deeply cherished child and a true gift following the war years.
Paul grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1965. He went on to earn a B.S. in Zoology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1969. This proud Longhorn graduate went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston in 1973. Paul honorably served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Dental Corps from 1973 to 1975. After several years as a general dentist in San Antonio, Texas, he completed a Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1982. He went on to build a thriving private practice in Spring and Kingwood, Texas where he worked until 2018. Known for his honesty, precision, and gentle approach, Paul earned the lasting trust of his patients and colleagues alike.
A life-long athlete, Paul had a deep love for baseball and was a devoted player, fan, and statistician. He also enjoyed tennis, golf, skiing, and maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle. Whatever his interests, Paul approached them with curiosity and diligence – whether researching new ideas or meticulously taking notes, he was always eager to learn and understand more.
Though accomplished in many areas, Paul’s greatest joy came from his family and friends. He cherished his Italian heritage, relished time spent with his extended family, and was a steadfast, loving, and dependable husband and father. His granddaughters brought him endless joy, and they will warmly remember their beloved Popi. He also treasured travel – both near and far – which filled his family’s lives with rich experiences and lasting memories. Paul was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Paul is survived by his devoted partner and wife of 53 years, Myra Miller San Marco; his son Marc San Marco and daughter-in-law Alisha San Marco; his daughter Melody San Marco; his granddaughters Jade, Olivia, Penelope, and Gwyneth; his sister Elizabeth San Marco; and his niece Erin Scott and her family.
