A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Erika Alexander Klein will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2022 in the Harvest Venue at The Woodlands Methodist Church located at 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, Texas 77380.
Erika passed away on June 28th, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. She
passed peacefully with her 4 children and husband at her bedside.
Born Erika Ruth Alexander in Houston, Texas, she attended Klein Oak High School and then
went on to Baylor University where she earned a degree in Business Administration. Immediately after graduating from Baylor in 1993, she went on to work for her family’s software
business, Global Shop Solutions Inc. She worked nearly every job possible at Global Shop, but
found her passion in software development. For the past 10 years, she was head of the
Research and Development team and was still working there at the time of her passing.
While at Baylor, she met her husband Barry Klein. They were introduced by coincidence as
Erika’s roommate was dating Barry’s roommate. Immediately after meeting, they began dating
and were married on November 12, 1994. They initially lived in Beaumont for Barry’s job, but a
few years later moved back to Houston. Shortly after that, they moved to the Woodlands
following the birth of their first child in October 2001. They have made their home here ever
since.
Erika’s favorite thing to do was spend time at their second home in Florida. She loved the ocean
and the beautiful, white sand. She would walk the beach every morning and paddle board in
search of sea creatures. Erika would scream with joy at every stingray, dolphin or turtle she
came across. She would end most evenings by watching the sun set over her favorite place.
Along with being an amazing wife and mother, Erika had an unrelenting desire to help others,
particularly the less fortunate. She had a special place in her heart for the women and children
of Africa, having traveled to several countries there on multiple occasions.
Erika is survived by her husband of 27 years, Barry G. Klein, and their four children, Cooper
Klein, Anna Klein, Thomas Klein and Hiyab Klein. She is also survived by her parents, Howard
“Dick” Alexander and Kathie Alexander, as well as her three siblings, Richard “Dusty”
Alexander, Kira Arend and Adria Keeney. Erika also had 11 nieces and nephews who were an
important part of her life.
