Eula was born in Indian Territory in Oklahoma and brought up in a humble log cabin to Emily and Frank Rhodes. She had one sister, Virginia. In 1938 at the age of 13, the oil and gas business brought her and her family to Houston, Texas. She married Joseph Orlando and went on to raise 7 children, Connie, Joe, Larry, Carol, Gerald, Debbie and Tommy Orlando. Later in years she married Daniel Dubroff and had stepsons, Duncan and Lloyd. She worked in family-owned grocery stores and banking through the years. She was always a working mother when mothers didn’t work. She was an artist, a great cook and a very independent, loving Christian woman. She loved to read and had an extensive library that covered many genres. She was very active and mowed her own grass until she was 79. Eula was athletic and showed this by doing back bends and hand stands even in her later years.
Eula was loved and adored by many. She was always full of great stories. She lit up the room when she entered. She had a warm, loving, nonjudgmental heart and over the years opened her heart and home to many. Everyone that knew her loved her. Eula will always have a special place in our hearts, we miss you dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister and five of her children. She is survived by two daughters.
