Gretchen was born May 22, 1939 in Beaumont, Texas. In her early career, she worked for the Houston Ballet for several years in the Accounting department. Her love of the ballet transferred to her girls who were all in the ballet for many years.
Gretchen then went on to her true calling and life’s work when she founded The Sean Ashley House to take care of her autistic and blind grandson, Sean. She grew this amazing foundation to nine houses. After many years, she retired from the The Sean Ashley House, but she always held it foremost in her heart.
She was proceeded in death by Maud Elizabeth Crum Mansfield (mother), Ernest Guy Mansfield (father), Charles Richard Wilson (husband), Tim Stephen Mansfield (brother), Ernest Bryant Mansfield (brother), and Derek Joseph Spears (grandson).
She is survived by Lisa Elizabeth Wilson Holder (daughter), Charles Richard Wilson II (son), Bridget Renee Wilson Spears (daughter), Julie Michelle Wilson Munoz (daughter), eight grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
