Gene Carl Wells was born on September 16 1941, in Cleveland, TX to Everett and Victoria Buford Wells. He graduated from Cleveland High School and attended Sam Houston University. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He met the love of his life, Jill Van Black on his birthday in 1962. They were married on April 8, 1963.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Genessa Corrie Wells, and two brothers, Everett Wells, Jr. and Clyde Wells. He passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on September 16, 1941.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jill Wells; sister Sue Fabert; children, June Baker and her husband, Ward, Gene Wells, Jr., and Joanna Holcomb and her husband, David.
