

George was born on January 8, 1935 in Pawtucket, RI, to parents George and Jane. He graduated from University of Alabama in 1956 with a BS Degree in Education and Boston University with a MS degree in Social Work. George served in the US Navy from March 1957 through March 1959 on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Randolf.
After graduate school he worked for the New York State Department of Mental Health. He retired from The Rochester New York Psychological Center as Head Social Worker in 1990. He also worked for over 25 years with the Rochester Health Association where he placed people who were ready to enter the work force with jobs that were compatible with their skills.
He enjoyed golfing, singing in the church choir in Florida, and following Alabama football, and being with his family and spending time with his Grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife, Cindy; his son, Gary Farragut and wife Tracy, of Wilsonville, Alabama, and their children Ian Farragut, Anna (Caleb) Murray, Benjamin Smith, Margaret Smith, and Samuel Smith; daughter, Mary Bennett and husband Jeremy, of The Woodlands, TX, and their children, Avery Bennett, and Addison Bennett; brothers, Paul Farragut and wife, Joan, Peter Farragut, and Mathew Farragut and wife Tracey; brother in law, Richard Rasbach and wife Barbara, and their children, Michael (Tracy) Rasbach, and David Rasbach. George is also survived by one great-grandson, Watson Murray.
George is preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Jane Farragut.
A memorial service will be held at The Woodland United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 16, at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at Mary's house.
