Gregory "Greg" Ray Dornak, age 69, passed away on February 14, 2026, in Conroe, Texas surrounded by family at his home. Born on January 25, 1957 to Raymond and Lois Dornak, in Houston, Texas, Greg lived a life full of devotion—to his family, his faith, and the many passions that brought him joy.
Greg spent his formative years moving frequently due to his father's career but found a lasting connection during his high school years in Lafayette, Louisiana. He graduated from Ovey Comeaux High School in 1976 and went on to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. His time in Louisiana left an indelible mark on him—especially the food and culture.
Greg built a successful career as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration. After retiring in 2009, he embraced a new chapter by founding his own landscaping company. His love for the outdoors made this second career a natural fit. Whether managing flight paths or planting gardens, Greg approached every endeavor with dedication and energy.
A devoted Catholic, Greg prayed the rosary daily and was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe, Texas. His spiritual life was a cornerstone of his character and guided him through all stages of life.
In 2017, Greg met Joanne —a fellow Louisiana native—and their connection was instant. They were married on February 12, 2018 and thought they would have many years together. Her ability to cook his favorite Cajun food sealed their bond. Together they shared countless memories filled with laughter, travel, and family gatherings. Greg especially loved frying turkeys for these occasions—a tradition that brought everyone together around good food and warm conversation.
Greg’s love for hunting and fishing was matched only by his passion for sports. He was an avid fan of the LSU Tigers, New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, and Houston Astros. He loved motorcycles and had plans to ride in his retirement but his health issues made this just a dream. Many vacations were spent along the Gulf Coast in South Padre or Rockport where he loved catching redfish and enjoying time by the water.
Greg had a youthful spirit that belied his age. With a warm smile for everyone he met and an open heart that welcomed all walks of life, he never met a stranger. He cherished time with family above all, especially during the holidays.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joanne; daughter Lindsey Brandt of Spring, TX; son Brandon Dornak and wife Kelly of Hoschton, GA ; bonus daughter Kelly Baker and husband Ryan of Montgomery, TX; mother Lois Krupa Dornak of Lafayette, LA; sister Michele Dornak Schambough and husband John Daurelle; of Youngsville, LA grandchildren Nathan Brandt, Avery Brandt, Ivan Dornak, August Dornak; bonus grandchildren Ryan Tyler, Rylan Manger, and Jacob Baker; numerous loved nieces and nephews and his pets, Aussiedoodles, Jack and Jill and cat, Beaux who brought him many hours of joy.
Greg was preceded in death by his father Raymond Johnnie Dornak.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Dornak, Drew Schambough, John Daurelle Schambough, Ryan Tyler, Rylan Manger and Jacob Baker.
