Helen W. Shotts

Helen was raised in Victoria by her parents, John and Esther West, with her three sisters, Mildred, Charlene, and Judy. Helen met the love of her life, Bobby Shotts, when she was 17. Bobby had just returned home to Victoria after serving 3 years in the U.S. Army. They were married on March 5, 1948 in McCamey, Texas, and raised their two children, Lyle and Ellen Deane in Victoria, Houston, and Conroe, Texas.

Bobby and Helen were entrepreneurs and owned and operated Shotts Cleaners for 30 years until their retirement in 1995. Bobby and Helen were charter members of Oak Ridge Church of Christ, called Grace Crossing Church today. They were always proud to call that church home. Bobby and Helen were married 55 years before his passing in 2004. Helen attended church regularly as long as she was physically able, and even as recently as January 2024, she attended a luncheon in honor of all members who were 90+ years old. Helen passed away at age 94 on June 18, 2024 in Spring, Texas. She will be remembered for her adoration of her husband, generosity to her children and grandchildren, faith in Jesus, youthful spirit and hard work.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther West, her sisters, Mildred Shotts and Charlene Raska, and her husband, Bobby Shotts. She is survived by her son, Lyle Shotts; daughter, Ellen Deane Harper; grandchildren, Tracey Shepherd and husband (Brian), Kelly Sloan, Brady Harper and wife (Katie), and Britton Hostetter; great-grandchildren, Todd Shepherd, Natalie Shepherd, Harper Shepherd, Lincoln Sloan, Beckett Sloan, and Hollis Harper; sister, Judy Palmer and husband (Jim); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Helen will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384 to be immediately followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. A committal service will occur 11:00 AM to 11:20 AM at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
