Howard Glenn Blunk passed away at his home in The Woodlands on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the age of 61. Howard always enjoyed life, and was a very generous man to all of those around him, especially his family, friends, and professional associates. He met his future wife Laura in 1978 while working for Chevron at their Walnut Creek offices. They were married in 1980 and soon moved to Denver where they had their first son Byron. They were then transferred to Houston where they had their second son Michael. Howard and family made a few more moves while he was employed at Chevron finally settling in The Woodlands, TX in 1993.
In 1999, Howard decided to retire from Chevron to form OGC Consulting with Laura. Together they ran OGC Consulting until he passed, having grown it into a very successful company. In addition to his work, Howard held numerous volunteer positions in the oil & gas accounting world including serving as President of both PASH (Petroleum Accountants Society of Houston) and COPAS (Council of Petroleum Accounts Societies). Howard was well respected for his knowledge and expertise in oil & gas contracts, and was often invited to speak to professional groups on topics in the industry. He was also an instructor for PDI educating other professionals in the industry. Howard was also an active member/volunteer for various programs his children were involved in while in school.
Howard was a very generous and compassionate person. If anyone needed help Howard would be one of the first to help. Howard had many roles in his personal life, husband, father, son, nephew, uncle, cousin, and being a mentor to any individuals in need. In addition, to helping others he loved watching NFL Football, especially the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will truly be missed.
Howard was predeceased by his father Glenn in 1994 and granddaughter Katura in 2012. He leaves behind his wife Laura, son Byron and wife Nicole, son Michael, Mother Betty, Sister Mary, Brother Gene, Aunt Eva and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family requests in lieu of cards and flowers that you make a donation to your favorite charity in Howard’s name. This way his desire to help others will continue.
