James is survived by his wife Gail, his step-son, Josh Jakubik, his daughter-in-law Dawn Jakubik and his grandsons Hunter and Chase Jakubik. He is also survived by his sister Paula Winger and his brothers Charles and Doug Giles.
Jim graduated from Coronada High School and earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech. Jim and his stepson Josh founded Third Coast Services with little more than an idea and drive and made it into a thriving construction business. Jim was known for his dry wit and sense of humor and deep caring for other people. He loved his family, his friends, his job, and his dogs.
He was ambivalent about the cats. In lieu of flowers donations to a scholarship in Jims name are appreciated. Texas Tech Foundation, Inc. with a note that the gift is in memory of Jim and sent to the following address:
