He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane Jackson. Jim was born in Olney, Texas, on July 25, 1937, and was the son of James Thomas and Naomi Jackson. He was the loving father of son Jeffrey Jay Jackson and his wife Gloria of The Woodlands, Texas, as well as daughter Jana Jackson Hodgson and her husband Dan of Townsend, Mass. He was the extremely proud grandfather of Colby James Jackson and Justin Alexander Jackson as well as Jordan Ally Hodgson and Jill Avery Hodgson.
He leaves his only sibling Glenda Page and her husband Benny of Grand Prairie, Texas, as well as sister-in-law Judy Johnston and husband Carl of Ardmore, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Pat Mitchell of Nocona, Texas, along with many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Jim graduated from Henrietta, Texas high school, Centralia Junior College, Centralia, Illinois, attended Texas Tech University, Arlington State College (UTA), and served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps..Semper Fi. He served in the Richardson, Texas, police department for 23 years and retired as a Sergeant.
After retiring from Richardson, Jim then served seven years as a Special Investigator for the Dallas County District Attorney Office. After he and Jane both retired in 1999, they moved west of Austin, Texas, to Horseshoe Bay, Texas, where they had a home for ten years. Jim was always very active in whatever church he and Jane were members. They had met in church in 1964 and continued working in churches their entire married life. Jim loved the Lord and it showed in his character his whole life as he served Him faithfully. Jim and Jane were one of 12 couples who founded Trinity Fellowship in Richardson, Texas, where Jim served as an Elder for 13 years. He loved his family and friends, he was a loving husband and a thoughtful and kind friend. After retiring to Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Jim was recruited to work part-time for the Horseshoe Bay Police Dept. which he did for over 2 years. He was very active in the community (as a 32nd degree Mason, served in Kiwanis, Habitat For Humanity, and several other capacities).
Jim had a winning personality and seldom ever met a stranger. His ethics and integrity were beyond reproach. Jim and Jane loved to travel and had almost traveled to all 50 states. In their first retirement year, they spent two weeks touring in France, and on their 50th anniversary they were able to take a Danube River Cruise and visited 5 different European countries. Many friends were made in their travels and they kept up with them over the years. Jim will be missed more than can be said, but he is with Jesus now face-to-face, and we will see him again. Well done thy good and faithful servant!
