

Judge James Harold Keeshan Jr., age 83, of Conroe, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. James was born on May 26, 1940 in Houston, Texas, the oldest of two children born to James Keeshan, Sr. and Aileen Wheeler. James grew up in the Pasadena area of Houston and graduated from Pasadena High School. He continued his education at Sam Houston State University and University of Texas Law School where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence.
James met the love of his life, Wanda Ledford, and the two were married in 1968. They shared 56 years of love and laughter together. James not only found his great love but also became "Dad" to his two sons, Tod and Clarke. He was a true family man and avid outdoorsman who delighted in spending time hunting, fishing in Galveston, and golfing. He and Wanda enjoyed many trips to beaches together, and they even rebuilt their home in Galveston as a family.
James joined the Air Force in August of 1967 and served for 6 years obtaining the rank of Captain. James served as a Lawyer, Judge Advocate, and Special Investigations and Counterintelligence Officer. After the Air Force, James and his family settled in Conroe, Texas where he launched a successful career representing Montgomery County. He was named Assistant District Attorney for the 9th District of Texas in 1974 quickly moving on to District Attorney for the 9th District in 1975, a position he held until 1985. On September 1, 1985, James was sworn into office in the 359th Judicial District Court of Montgomery County, Texas. He served his community as a Judge with dignity and honor until his retirement in 2002. He earned a reputation as a compassionate, knowledgeable, and fair Judge who left an indelible mark on the bench and on the lives of those he served.
James was preceded in death by his parents James and Aileen Keeshan. James is survived by his beloved wife Wanda, sister Joan Graham, sons Tod and Clarke (Sally), grandchildren Callie (Brandon), Grant and Kole, and great grandchildren Brock, Jax and James Lucas.
James lived a life of service to his country and his community and dedicated his professional career to serving others. He was an exceptional Husband, Father, and Grandfather who was adored by his family. His outgoing personality and genuine love for people will be fondly remembered

A funeral service for James will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A reception will occur Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A committal service will occur Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
