
Jimmy proudly honored his country with 4 years in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam war. Upon his return from the war, Jimmy met the girl next door, with whom he shared a birthday. They then shared a wonderful happy life together, celebrating 55 years of marriage.
Jimmy’s career spanned 40 years of serving in government and law enforcement. Following a decade in Air Traffic Control, he transitioned to U.S. Customs where he served until his retirement.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His warmth, humor, and kindness touched all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
He was in preceded in death by his parents Wade Mericle, Virginia Nesbitt Mericle, and sister Linda Mericle Denari.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Sandy; sons Lance (Kim) & Kevin (Jennifer); siblings Clent, Carol, Barbara, and Carl.
He was a devoted grandfather to his 6 grandchildren Logan (Brynn), Shelby (Jacob), Madison (Jose), Emma (Sara), Brady, and Linsey, and 5 great grandchildren (Celeste, Thiago, Mavis, Rowan, and Daniela).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jimmy’s memory to the National Veterans Foundation (NVF.org).
A visitation will be held at Spring Baptist Church, located at 633 E Louetta Rd, Spring, TX 77373, on August 29, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the same location at 10:00 am.
A private committal service will be held.
