He was born on November 9, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, to John H. (Jack) and Faye A. Veeser. John attended Harrison High School, where he played on the celebrated football team’s offensive lines. He then attended Central Michigan University where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration, Finance and Economics. He also achieved a Master’s of Science in Accounting from Walsh College. His business career involved work in the finance departments of several companies in Michigan before he moved to Texas in 2006. His career culminated in his service as Vice President of Finance at Hart Energy Publishing LLC in Houston, from which he retired in 2024.
It was in Texas that John met the love of his life, Elizabeth De La Peña and they married in 2009. Then with the arrival of their beloved daughter Marisa, their family was complete. John was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners, bike riding with Marisa, visiting National Parks, savoring robust red wines, and being a devoted dog owner as well as creating spreadsheets for anything and everything.
John was known by all as a kind, humble and thoughtful man who deeply cared for others. He demonstrated his devotion to family when he graciously welcomed his mother in law into the family home for the last 3 years of her life.
From childhood trips to visit his grandparents in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, John developed a deep love for the U.P., especially the family’s remote forest camp in Iron County. After moving to Texas, he cherished returning there for annual Fall hunting trips. He also loved bringing Marisa up north in wintertime, to connect with her Michigan family and show her the beauty and fun of a landscape covered in snow and ice.
John is survived by his wife Elizabeth and daughter Marisa; his siblings Kathy (Cam) Knight, Pat (Paul) Beauchamp, Tim Veeser (Jimena Loveluck), and Elizabeth Veeser-Sharer (Jeff Sharer); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for John will be held at 2 p.m. on December 21, 2025 at Forest Park - The Woodlands Funeral Home. Followed immediately by a catered reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
He will also be celebrated in June 2026 at the family’s camp in Michigan, which he has chosen for his final resting place.
