Longtime resident of The Woodlands, Kishin Bhavnani-Rama passed away on December 16, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Better known to his many friends as Kay, he was a kind and generous spirit, whose love of his family, friends and Elvis, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kay was born on September 18, 1938 to Sita Bai Bhavnani (nee Advani) and Ramchand Bhavnani in Hong Kong, BCC where he began what would become a life long career as a tailor and custom clothier. Kay married Veena (Shalani, nee Daryani) on August 16, 1970 and the two began a 45 year journey together that included many adventures, travel, love, and laughter, culminating with the birth of their sons, Nick (Nickushi) and Amit.
Kay will be remembered by his many friends for his remarkable hospitality; no one ever left his home without a good meal, a stiff drink, and an engaging conversation. Papa Rama, as he was known to his many “honorary kids”, was a confidant, a giver of excellent advise, and a source of comfort, laughter, and the occasional well deserved kick in the pants to the many friends of his sons that he truly thought of as his own children. His larger than life personality will be missed by all of them.
Kay is survived by his loving wife Veena, his devoted sons Nick (wife: Claudia) and Amit, beloved grandsons, Zachary and Julian, his neices, Renu Khemaney (nee Advano) Louise Bhavnani, Natasha Khemaney-Jethwani, Kennedy Hira, and Alyssa Advano ,his nephews, Rick Advano Kenneth Hira, Varun Khemaney, Caden Hira, Dhillon Advano, and Austin Bhavnani, and sister-in-law, Sally Bhavnani (nee Thomas).
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Mohan Bhavnani, his sisters Kim Hira (husband Kash Hira) Vindri Advani (husband, Jamhamat).
