Laura Jane Agee (Ruth) was born on March 12, 1950 at Heights Hospital, Houston, TX, to Benny B. and Ruth Virginia Ruth (Smith). She was a welcome addition to the family that also included her sister Sharon Letty. Later a brother joined the family, Robert Paul. She was raised in the Galena Park ISD and grew up going to the Galena Park Methodist Church.
Childhood was full of picnics, swimming lessons, bike riding, dance classes and hijinks with her sister who she shared a bedroom with all the way through high school. She was born on March 12th, the birthday of The Girl Scouts. She was a Girl Scout for several years under her Mother as the leader of the troop. The only part of Girl Scouts she didn’t like was camping out primarily due to bugs and heat. Other special memories Laura had of her childhood were trips from Galena Park to downtown Houston for shopping and “charm school”. She enjoyed singing and dancing as a teen.
Her grandparents, Lettie B. and Grady E. Smith, Frona Ruth George and Charles L. Ruth were instrumental in her upbringing along with numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. She was raised with love and unending patience.
Later in life she gladly welcomed her two children, Kate and Justin Agee. Laura lived in many different cities and states but her favorite was Colorado which she was able to revisit many times. She always returned to the Houston area to be close to her family members.
Laura met her husband, Ravi Ayyar, in 1989 while working as a receptionist at Saudi Arabian Airlines. She and Ravi made many new memories together traveling when time would allow. They lived in the Spring, TX area for 36 years.
Laura was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Benny Ruth and her son Justin Wallace Agee. Life was never the same for Laura after the loss of her only son but she tried to stay positive in her outlook on life. She leaves behind her husband Ravi Ayyar, her daughter Kate (Matt), a grandson William, her sister Sharon Faseler (Clyde), her brother Bob Ruth (Carolyn) and numerous cousins, nephews and their spouses and children. She described ‘Jesus Christ’ as “my best friend”.
