Lena Marie Land, 73, of Spring Texas passed away February 12, 2013. She is survived by her spouse Jerry and son Michael, his wife Lisa, grandchildren Michelle and Lauren land, and Nicole and Eric Faulkner; her brother Tony Cash, his wife Joyce and numerous nephews and nieces. Lena enjoyed driving vacations especially in the western U.S. She enjoyed the mountains of Colorado and cruising Alaska. Lena had some great foreign excursions with extended stays in London and Rio de Janeiro.
As a young woman Lena was in the first graduating class of Marion High School, the Class of 1958. She worked as an administrative assistant throughout her career in the oil and gas industry.
She was born in Bryan, Texas with her family moving to Houston soon afterwards. Prior to attending Marion High School she attended St. Anne’s Catholic School.
After graduation from high school she attended and graduated from Massey Business College in Houston.
On January 16, 1960 she married Jerry and had one son Mike. They made their home in Houston up until 1976 when they moved to Spring, Texas.
Lena and Jerry made it a priority in their relationship to travel as much as possible visiting over 40 states, England, Canada and Brazil. Their other love was entertaining family (especially preparing grandma’s spaghetti sauce for her three granddaughters) and friends at their lake house on Lake Livingston. She loved to fish, do crossword puzzles and play games.
Visitation is Thursday, February 14, 6-8pm at Forest Park The Woodlands, and Funeral Service is Friday, February 15 at 1:00pm at Chapel of the Angels, Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The National Kidney Foundation.
