Mae Marie (Fanguy) Gilcrease, passed away on May 8, 2025 in The Woodlands, Texas. Mae was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was deeply loved by her family and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Mae was born in Houma, Louisiana on May 31, 1927. She married the love of her life, Marvin Gilcrease, and the two shared 31 years together. Mae and Marvin built a beautiful blended family together and enjoyed their many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mae and Marvin were also a successful team in business as they owned and managed 47 rental homes in the Spring area.
Mae's greatest joy was having her family gather at her home on holidays and birthdays, and she would cook delicious gumbos, jambalayas, and other traditional holidays favorites. In addition to her passion for cooking, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was the sweet matriarch of our family and was always a warm, loving presence in our lives.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her 5 siblings; her beloved husband Marvin; son-in-law Greg MacMillan; step-daughter Linda Blest and son-in-law Phillip Blest. She is survived by her children Larry Breaux (Raquel), Gina MacMillan, and Liz Kainer (Bill); step children Mike Woods, Ron Gilcrease (Sandra), and Larry Gilcrease. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Rivera and his team at St. Luke's Hospital and VITAS Hospice Facility. And a special thank you to Terry Baker, Mae's caregiver, for the two years of love and compassionate care.
