

She was born September 12, 1922 in Elmhurst, Queens, the daughter of Thomas E. and Margaret (Mahoney) Horan. She was a US Army veteran of World War 2 serving as a 2nd Lieutenant nurse in the European Theater as a member of the 101st Airborne Division, tending to the wounded during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944.
Before moving to the Woodlands, TX in 1997 she was a longtime resident of Bellerose Terrace where she and her husband raised her family of 7 children. In 1980 she and her husband moved to Port Jefferson Village, NY.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward L. Brown and her sisters Gloria Heimers Keenan and Alice Marley.
She is survived by her loving children, Paul Brown and his wife Barbara of the Woodlands, TX; Thomas Brown and his wife Pansy of The Woodlands, TX; Matthew and James (Drew) both of Long Island NY; Edward (Ned) of Magnolia, TX; Janel Savage and her husband Michael of The Woodlands, TX and Lois of the Woodlands, TX. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 30th at 11AM at Sts. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, The Woodlands, TX.
Interment will be at the Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island at the convenience of the family. If you wish to make a memorial contribution in Margaret's name, The Smile Foundation and The Wounded Warrior Project were the charities most near and dear to Margaret's heart.
