

19, 2022. Known as Peg or Peggy, she was born July 24, 1930, in the Mount Airy neighborhood
of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to William Walling Van Dolsen, MD and Sophia Cramp Ferguson
Van Dolsen. The youngest of three children, Peg grew up in Mount Airy, and graduated from
the University of Pennsylvania in 1951 with a B.A. in Education. She was a member of Zeta Tau
Alpha sorority while at the University of Pennsylvania.
In the early 1950s, Peg moved to California, and began a 38-year career as a teacher and school
counselor in the Cajon Valley School District near San Diego, California. In early retirement,
Peg divided her time between California and Texas, later moving to the Houston area as a fulltime resident. A lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, Peg was active in the Woodlands
Community Presbyterian Church, and as a two-time cancer survivor, she served as a volunteer
for the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She was also an avid
quilter, making quilts for friends, family, and the prayer quilt ministry.
She is survived by seven nieces and nephews, Carolyn Fojt, Stephen Van Dolsen, Edward Van
Dolsen, Barbara Schrull, Ferguson Stewart, Nancy Van Dolsen, and Peter Van Dolsen, and their
spouses, as well as many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
