Marlene and her former spouse, Bob Boyett, had two children, Mike and Rachael, who they adored. Though their relationship wasn't permanent, it led to grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought her so much joy.
After her children were grown, she joined a singles group at Northwoods Presbyterian Church where she met Jim Gillis. They were married on April 18, 1987, witnessed by their blended family.
Marlene loved traveling and took various trips with Jim and his company, Shell/Dupont, as well as several cruises with friends. While living in The Woodlands, she met many lifelong friends and enjoyed their get togethers for parties, Bunco, Mexican Train, and Bible Study.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents Travis and Hibernia Fields.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Jim Gillis; son, Mike Boyett and wife Susan; daughter, Rachael Griffin; sister, Glenda Parker and husband Wayne; stepchildren, Jeff Gillis and wife Sandy, Greg Gillis and wife Linda, Shelley DeLuna and husband Louis, Kim Minchich and husband Matt; along with 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Village Green Memory Care in The Woodlands for their excellent care and support over the last 3 years; as well as her nurse, Eileen Burns, for her love and attention. She always went above and beyond to meet Marlene's needs and ensured that her health, safety, and happiness were top priority.
A Celebration of Life service for Marlene will be held at The Woodlands Methodist Church 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77380 on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10:00AM with a reception immediately to follow in The Jones Library.
