Martin finished high school at Miami Beach in 1953; he received a BS in 1957 from Tulane University and in 1960 received a MD from Tulane University School of Medicine. Martin completed his externship in 1959 from Mount Sinai Hospital of Greater Miami, his internship with Charity Hospital of Louisiana from 1960-1961, his residency from 1961-1964 with Charity Hospital of Louisiana and his fellowship from 1967-1968 from Northwestern University (Clinical Nephrology).
Martin did active duty with the US Army Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany from 1964-1967. He worked at Doctors Clinic in Seabrook and Webster, TX from 1968-1980 and then in private practice at Clear Lake Medical Consultants, PA in Webster, TX from 1980-1998. Dr. Rappaport's years in practice were in internal medicine. He always aspired to be the best in his field and to give his best to his patients.
Martin retired to the Lake Conroe are in 1998. During retirement he continued to support many charities and associations to include; Congregation Beth Israel, Rotary of Conroe, Harris County Retired Physicians Organization, American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, Houston Chapter, Tulane Alumni Association, Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity and Alley Theatre. He had a passion for his Jewish heritage, the Holocaust, politics, freedom and the constitution.
Martin was married to Bethany A. Rappaport on February 5, 1986.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Rappaport and mother, Anne Rappaport of Miami Beach, Florida.
Martin is survived by his wife, Bethany; children, Karen McHugh, Steven Rappaport, Kevin Cole, Aaron Cole; grandchildren, Aliza McHugh, Sean McHugh, Casey McHugh, Benjamin Rappaport, and Joshua Rappaport; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
