She was born in Laurel, Mississippi, on May 28, 1943.
Peggy graduated from Laurel High School and received a B. S. degree in mathematics from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.
She was married to Merritt Jones on August 2, 1964.
Peggy had a career as a math teacher and as a computer project manager with several aerospace companies eventually retiring from IBM where she spent most of her career.
Peggy had a passion for family and friends. She also loved art, reading, flower arranging and golf.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garland Atwood of Laurel, MS, and by her daughter, Pamela Jones, of Austin, Texas.
She is survived by Merritt Jones, her husband, Greg Jones (her son) of The Woodlands, Texas, and two brothers, Garland “Bo” Atwood, Jr. of Laurel, Mississippi, and Dr. Charles “Butch” Atwood of Salt Lake City, Utah.
A gathering will be held from noon until three, Saturday, December 2, at Forest Park Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Texas.
