Nan Horne Langford, 75, passed away October 22, 2011 in Corpus Christi, Texas, due to post-surgery complications. She was born May 5, 1936 in Thrifty, Texas to Purlman and Felicia Horne, and grew up in Brownwood, Texas, where she met her husband, Robert Langford. The pair were high school sweethearts, and enjoyed a happy, blessed 58 years together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather from adolescence, Ralph Salter, her sister, Jean Weekley, and her beloved granddaughter, Lara Langford. She is survived by her brother, John (Diana) Salter, of Albuquerque, NM; her husband, Robert, of Rockport, Texas; her children, Steve (Toby) Langford of Webster, Texas, Gina (Michael) Hardman of League City, Texas and Russel (Janis) Langford of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren, Randi (Greg) Reams, Michael (Mary) Langford, Maggie (Lee) Donovan, Lindsey Langford, Clinton Cottom, Ryan Cottom, and Leslie Langford; four great-grandchildren: Mason and Teagyn Reams, Lara and Peyton Langford; and several nieces and nephews.
Nan and Robert married shortly after completing high school, and set out for Austin, Texas, where Nan bore three children, and provided the necessary love and encouragement to ensure Robert earned his degree from the University of Texas at Austin. That devotion carried into Robert’s 40 year career, of which she was a very active participant, and landed them in Fort Worth, Texas, where the couple lived for most of their marriage. Upon Robert’s retirement, they moved to Rockport, Texas in 2002, where Nan enjoyed engaging in life-long hobbies, and frequent visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom loved spending time with their beloved Nana.
A private service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 29, at Forest Park Funeral Home in The Woodlands, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
