Rafael was born in Cebolletas, Hidalgo, on August 30, 1915, and was later married to Alberta Sanchez Moreno. He had a career as the Secretary of Agriculture in Mexico. He had many hobbies and loved boxing.
Rafael was preceded in death by his children, Andres Lira Vazquez, Celestina Lira Fragoso, Gerardo Lira Fragoso, and Rafael Lira Fragoso Jr. Rafael is survived by his wife, Alberta Sanchez Moreno; children, Raul Lira Sanchez, Jesus Lira Sanchez, Felipe Lira Sanchez, Miriam Lira Segura, Hilda M. Lira Sanchez, Francisco J. SantaMaria, Miguel Abraham, Blanca E. Abraham, Alma Mandujano, Jorge Gallegos, Miguel Lira Vazquez, Jesus Lira Vazquez, Carmela Lira Vazquez, Ana Maria Lira Vazquez, Mariano Lira Vazquez, Mauro Lira Vazquez, Fernando Lira Fragoso, Rosa Lira Fragoso, Martina Lira Fragoso, Teresa Lira Fragoso, Gloria Lira Fragoso, Cruz Maria Lira Fragoso, Isidro Lira Fragoso; 91 grandchildren; and 155 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 12, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South in The Woodlands. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, February 13, at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 North Frazier Street in Conroe. Immediately following the Mass, the Rite of Committal will take place at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
