A graduate from La Tech University in geology in 1982, he was employed with Suemaur E & P, LLC. His experience in the oil industry included working with Cities Service, Occidental Petroleum, Oxy USA, Enron, EOG, and Newfield. His love of helping others was first recognized in 1977 when he received the Eagle of the Cross award for outstanding Christian Leadership and Example. Most recently he was a dedicated member of the Saint Vincent De Paul Society at St Anthony of Padua in The Woodlands.
He will be sorely missed by his wife of 25 years, Peggy Woodard Thibodaux, his daughter Meagan, and his son Michael. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana to Dudley and Dorothy Thibodaux he is survived by two sisters, Michelle Thibodaux and Simonette Roberts, and a brother Louis Thibodaux.
Rene’s favorite charities were the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth,, 800 E. Dawson, Tyler, Texas 75791.
