Richard Ogden Bruce Bottolfson, 95, of The Woodlands, passed away on February 5, 2025. He was born in Waseca, Minnesota on June 27, 1929 to Elder and Harriet Bottolfson. He moved to Northwood, Iowa as a teenager graduating from Northwood High School in 1947. He attended St. Olaf College for 2 years before joining the Army serving from 1951-1953 as a medical technician. After his service he attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a degree in Chemistry. It was then that a long-time friendship with Beatrice Larson was rekindled leading to their marriage in 1958. He and Beatrice went on to celebrate 62 years of marriage until her death in 2020.
Richard spent 40 years in the insurance industry working for Aetna Life & Casualty in Omaha, Indianapolis and Houston. He was happy to be relocated to Houston since he could play his favorite sport of golf all year long. In retirement, he loved to travel, particularly cruising. When not traveling, he could always be found on the golf course.
He is survived by his children, Linda Bottolfson Finley and David Finley of Plano, David and Laura Bottolfson of Clear Lake and grandchildren Katherine Finley, Rebecca Finley, Andrew Bottolfson and Claire Bottolfson. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Bottolfson, brother Philip Bottolfson, and his parents.
A committal service for Richard will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384 in the Chapel Mausoleum.
