Rick Denton Dominy

Rick Dominy, 64, of Willis, Texas went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2023. Rick was born August 4, 1958 in Houston, Texas to Tallie and Thelma Dominy. He is Survived by his beloved wife Diane Dominy of 42 years of marriage; his children Michael Weeks and wife, Stacy; Melissa McDowell and husband Todd; Richard Burmaster and wife Samantha; as well as his daughter Nicole Burmaster. Eleven grandchildren: Corbin, Ashlyn, Arianna, Abby, William, Syniya, Maddy, Taylor, Graysen, Scarlett, Ashton; his brother Ronnie Dominy; and sister Regina Joslin and husband Chad; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father and mother.

Rick entered the work force at age 12, then went into the Navy at 17 years of age and served as a radio operator on the submarine U.S.S. Isabella. Once home, he became a machinist and later worked in the funeral industry. He also taught dance at night with his wife for 21 years. Rick and Diane danced competitively with one another taking fourth in the world, competing with students in Pro-Am’s, winning many World titles. He coached the dance team Top Guns out of Sam Houston University for multiple championships. He worked in commercial real estate for eleven years but never lost his love of helping others, which is why he found his way back to the funeral industry with Forest Park The Woodlands until retirement due to illness.

Rick was an amazing man that loved the word of God and his family. Some of his most favorite memories were those that he spent with his family and especially with his grandchildren. Rick loved dancing, sports, golf, and traveling. He was generous with making others feel appreciated and everyone who knew him knew they were loved. Rick led young boys in Cub Scouts, and also coached baseball and softball teams. Ten years ago Rick and Diane joined The Light Church where he was a Greeter, Assistant Kids Light Director, Lead Usher, Prayer Team Member, Serve Team Leader, and assisted in Men’s Ministries.

Rick was a contagious spirit who never met a stranger. We will think of Rick when we hear laughter, and we will remember him as a joyful and compassionate servant of God.

Celebration of Life for Rick Dominy will be at 10:00am on Saturday July 8, 2023, at The Light Church, located at 13145 I-45 N, Willis, Texas 77318. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Kids Light Building Fund. Donate - The Light Church (churchcenter.com)
