Ruby Mae Withers

Ruby was born September 30, 1929 in George West, TX to Raymond H. Lindholm and his wife Katie Mae. Her kindness, selfless love and gentle presence will be sorely missed in the lives of all that loved and knew her. Ruby had a compassion for people, a servant’s heart and a giving, generous spirit. In 1948, she met the love of her life, Bruce M. Withers, Jr., in Chemistry class at Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M Kingsville). She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education in May of 1950 and married Bruce in September of that same year. Together these two built a beautiful life. They were both very active in the Alumni Association of their Alma Mater. As Bruce developed his career in oil and gas, Ruby taught school in various Texas towns including Quero, Waxahachie and Houston. Ruby was an active member and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Spring Branch in Houston, TX for many years. She was also involved in the GA’s program for young girls during their membership in that church. The year 1978 saw a move from Houston to The Woodlands. There, she and Bruce became active members at First Baptist Church The Woodlands. She was involved in women’s bible study and women’s ministry for many, many years. To her husband, Bruce, she was a quiet, steadfast, faithful and supportive resolve. To her daughter Robin, she was the essence of what a true lady really looks like and a role model to be followed the rest of her days. To her one and only Grandson, Andrew Winegar, she was simply “Me-Mommy” - a loving, guiding strength, always and ever present in his life.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Robin Withers Garner and husband Bill of The Woodlands, Texas; grandson Andrew Winegar of Chicago, Illinois; Sister-In-Law Mary Alyce Lindholm of Corpus Christie, Texas; Nephew Gerald Lindholm and wife Virginia of Corpus Christie, Texas; Niece Kay Dickens and husband Frank of Dallas, Texas; Nephew Jim Lindholm of Gilmer, Texas; Sister-In-Law Ethel Withers of Houston, Texas; Nephew Robert W. (“Bob”) Withers and wife Linda of Houston, Texas; Niece Rochelle Shank and husband Jeremy of Sandy Springs, Georgia and multiple great-nephews.

Ruby is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Bruce M. Withers, Jr.; Father Raymond H. Lindholm; Mother Katie Mae Lindholm; Brothers Raymond H. Lindholm, Jr., Charles Lindholm and James Lindholm; Sisters-in-Law Frances Lindholm, Phoebe Lindholm and Ann Lindholm; and nephew Greg Lindholm.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 26, at Forest Park, The Woodlands, 18000 Interstate 45 S., The Woodlands, TX 77384. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruby’s name to The Woodlands First Baptist Church, 11801 Grogan’s Mill Road, The Woodlands, TX 77380.
