

Thomas Darden Vaughan, 70, passed away July 25, 2012 in The Woodlands, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 18, 1942 in Elmira, New York to the late Evan and Margaret Darden Vaughan. Tom is survived by his daughters Marnie Williams and husband Kyle (Cobleskill, NY) and Nikki Vaughan Maczko and husband Tim (The Woodlands, TX) ; grandchildren Nathan, Zachary and Matthew Williams, Courtney and Sydney Maczko; sisters Mary (Ed) Siergiej of Colorado, Ardythe Walters of Pennsylvania and Elizabeth Haight of Texas; brothers Jim (Sis) Vaughan of Virginia, David (Jean) Vaughan of Texas and Joseph (Suzanne) Vaughan of Florida, who will be lovingly caring for Tom’s faithful dog, Flower. Tom was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Daniel Haight and nephew, Andrew Vaughan.
Tom graduated from Troy High School, Troy, Pennsylvania in 1960. He began working at an early age doing odd jobs to earn money around the Troy area. Early in his career he was employed with Acme Supermarket and later with Grand Union, managing grocery stores across the Pennsylvania and New York areas. Upon retiring in 1997, Tom moved to Texas. Tom was an avid gardener and reader and loved to watch basketball and football. What he loved most however was his children, grandchildren and extended family. Nothing made him happier than to watch his grandchildren play their favorite sports or activities.
Tom was a giving, caring man who enriched everyone’s life he touched. He will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know him.
A celebration of Thomas’s life is set for Friday, August 3, 2012 at 1:00 pm at St. John’s Catholic Church in Troy, Pennsylvania. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
In memory of Tom, for those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter, Conroe, Texas, who Tom supported over the years.
