

Val attended Nicholls State University and graduated from Louisiana State University with Bachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering in 1955. Val was a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board. One of the many architectural projects that Val worked on during his career included the Mecom Fountain at the Warwick Hotel in Houston.
Val was on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1957 to1962. He continued to serve in Army Reserves until 1992 at which time he retired as a Major.
In retirement, Val enjoyed visiting art museums and studying biblical archeology.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty six years, Patricia Bergeron; son, Gregory P. Bergeron and his partner Thomas J. Dawson; daughter, Stephanie Bergeron Perdue and her husband Rick; grandson, Nicolas Paul Perdue along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in the Chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands with funeral services following at 7:00 PM with Gary Heath from the Lord of Life Lutheran Church officiating. Private interment will be at the Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the family request donations be made to The American Lung Association or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
