William “Bill” Jasper Doty, Jr., a man of grace, brilliance, and boundless heart, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025. Born in Pasadena, Texas, on November 4, 1943, Bill lived a life illuminated by curiosity, love, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
A true scholar-athlete, Bill attended Rice University on a full basketball scholarship, graduating in 1966. He was both a phenomenal athlete and a gifted intellect, balancing the rhythm of the court with the rigor of academics. His exceptional talent and lifelong passion for the game were recognized when he was inducted into the Clear Creek High School Hall of Honor in 2017 and later into the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame, Class of 2020 — both well-deserved honors that reflected his dedication, skill, and sportsmanship both on and off the court.
On September 7, 1962, Bill married the love of his life and best friend, Patsy Ruth Corley. Their love story, one of deep devotion and shared laughter, spanned over 63 extraordinary years. Together they built a home filled with warmth and joy, welcoming their beloved daughter, Doña Chemine Doty, who was the light of their lives and the heart of their family.
Bill’s soul was drawn to beauty in all its forms — in words, in nature, and in the quiet moments between. He was an avid reader with a special love for history, a talented photographer with an artist’s eye, and an outdoorsman who found peace in the stillness of open skies. Behind his camera lens, he captured life’s most tender and fleeting moments — each photograph a reflection of his deep appreciation for the world and the people he loved.
He also had a profound love for animals, especially his beloved dogs, who brought him immeasurable joy and companionship throughout his life. Each one held a special place in his heart, and together they shared countless adventures, quiet moments, and lasting memories.
Throughout his distinguished career as a systems analyst, Bill lent his brilliance and precision to companies including Eastern Airlines and MD Anderson, as well as through his own consulting work. His keen mind, integrity, and gentle humor made him deeply respected by colleagues and friends alike.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents, Sonia and William Doty, Sr., his younger brother Jimmy Doty, and his cherished daughter Doña Chemine Peters.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Patsy Ruth Corley Doty; his son-in-law, Tim Peters; his sister, Judy Williams; and his beloved grandchildren — Natalie Thomas, Brennen Peters, Blake Peters, and Trevor Peters — each of whom carries forward his love, wisdom, and enduring spirit.
Those who knew Bill will remember him as a man of quiet strength and radiant kindness — brilliant yet humble, loyal yet gentle, a husband, father, and grandfather whose love knew no bounds. His faith and family were his compass, his greatest treasures, and the essence of his beautiful life.
Bill Doty’s legacy lives on in every photograph he took, every story he shared, and every heart he touched.
